For years, Katrin has been advising clients in various sectors, including the health care sector, the financial services industry and the municipal/public sector, on data privacy issues. In particular, she assists in implementing requirements of the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

An additional focus of her work is advising clients on e-commerce matters with an emphasis on websites and online shops (terms and conditions, customers’ right to withdraw online orders, legal notifications, and privacy policies), social media sites, and apps.

Finally, Katrin advises clients on competition and advertising law matters, including in the health and medical products industry, for example, with respect to planning and arranging promotional activities and advertising on the Internet.

  • Advise on data protection law for various non-profit associations and voluntary organizations
  • Advise one of Germany’s largest pharmaceutical companies that specializes in diabetes products on data privacy, competition law, and copyright matters, in particular on operating online shops, including general terms and conditions, data privacy notices, legal notices, and creating customer loyalty programs, implementing compliance requirements such as a Code of Conduct and other measures
  • Advise a number of FinTech companies/start-ups on data protection, distribution, and competition law
  • Ongoing advice on data protection law for various municipal and institutions in the State of Hesse, Germany
  • Long-term advice to a manufacturer of pharmaceuticals with headquarter in Israel on data privacy
  • Advise a hotel chain with hotels in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland on data protection law
  • Legal support and design of a new social media platform for MS patients and their relatives
  • Draft contracts and advise on introducing a number of new applications and websites
  • Advise a major German fashion label on all aspects of establishing and operating an online shop
  • Prepare general terms and conditions for B2C and B2B transactions for leading companies in the following industries: candies and sweets, household appliances, toys, and cleaning supplies and detergents
  • Advise a manufacturer of soft drinks on general terms and conditions and data privacy matters with respect to the market entry of a new concept involving ordering and delivering recipes and foods for self-cooking

Katrin has been a German Attorney at Law since 2004, a Junior Partner at SCHIEDERMAIR since 2009, and was named Counsel at SCHIEDERMAIR in 2019.

Katrin studied law and political science at the Philipps-University in Marburg, Germany and the Albert-Ludwigs University in Freiburg, Germany. As part of her doctoral thesis, she was a Visiting Scholar at Cambridge University for a few months. She earned her Doctorate in 2004.

While completing her doctoral thesis, Katrin worked as an Editor at Deutsches Recht (German Law), a monthly legal publication and at CLIFFORD CHANCE in Duesseldorf. During her studies, she also completed an internship at the German Desk of KIRKLAND & ELLIS LLP in London.
