Attorneys with an entrepreneurial understanding

Our Self-Image

We at SCHIEDERMAIR Rechtsanwälte have, after many years of practice in large German and international law firms, decided to rediscover our professional roots. We want to advise our clients personally and individually or in small teams. We have built long-standing relationships with many of our clients (the German “Mittelstand” as well as international groups of companies). Over the years trust has grown combined with deep knowledge of our clients’ competitive uniqueness, their business and their corporate culture. This relationship of trust and knowledge forms the basis of our mutual success.

We know from experience that small but efficient teams can successfully achieve great objectives. One prerequisite is the sharing of information and know-how, so that everyone on the team is always at the same level of knowledge. All team members are fully involved in the work process. Each and every person knows about the overall goal and our plan how to get there.

Your Qualification and Your Expectations

You have passed your exams with honours; you are fluent not only in your mother tongue, but also in German and English? Maybe you have completed a doctoral thesis or have received an international degree (such as an LL.M. or an MCL)?

Your aim is to render legal advice in an internationally operating law firm to high profile clients?

You have an entrepreneurial understanding and you want to assume responsibility for our clients’ needs?

You like a professional environment, but you don’t want to spend every moment of your life billing by the hour…?

We are mainly looking for attorneys with a German law degree. But if you have passed an international bar exam and if you are interested in working in a German firm, please, feel also free to contact us.

Welcome to SCHIEDERMAIR Rechtsanwälte

We look forward to working with you! From the first day on you will work in a small team consisting of attorneys and tax advisors for our clients’ needs. You will learn “on the job” the business of an attorney in an internationally operating law firm. You will not be confined to the back-office preparing legal memoranda. You will actively advise our clients in meetings and over the phone and you will represent the interests of our clients in negotiations as well as in court proceedings.

Our firm is active in four core legal fields:

  • Transactions (Corporate/Real Estate/Tax/M&A/Notarial Services)
  • Labour and Employment Law
  • Industrial Property, IT, Distribution
  • Litigation and Arbitration

Maybe you already know which area you are interested in. You will then, step by step, get insight into the details and the various challenges of your preferred area of practice. Should you be interested in a broader training, we will familiarize you with all core fields of our firm. Jointly with you, we will work out a career plan matching your preferences and skills with our needs.

From day one on you will have a partner, who will act as your mentor. He or she will be responsible for your education. Of course, his or her door will also be open should you have any other question. One word on open doors and accession to partners at SCHIEDERMAIR: You will see that the doors are open almost everywhere in the firm, and you will soon learn that all of us will take time to listen to you, even in situations when you are struggling with the partner responsible for your education.

We like a certain professional distance – as a matter of fact and as a matter of space. We have deliberately chosen our offices – other than most of the international law firms – not to be located within Frankfurt’s banking district, but rather in the “Nordend”, the northern part of downtown Frankfurt, with a fantastic view towards the skyline. Nevertheless, our office is well connected to the City: the nearest underground station is directly in front of our office and three stops away from the European Central Bank. To the heart of downtown Frankfurt it is only a ten minutes’ walk.

Education and Continuing Education

At SCHIEDERMAIR Rechtsanwälte you will be trained “on the job”. We will ask you to assume responsibility for our clients’ needs at a very early stage. This is not always easy. But you can be sure that the partner who is your mentor will know what to expect from you – and you will grow with your tasks!

Our services are always only as good as we are. We contribute regularly to legal periodicals and text books (journals, handbooks and commentaries). We publish our own newsletters on legal topics of particular interest. And, of course, we participate regularly in external seminars for continuing education – both as speakers and as participants. The latter is also true for you. Should you be interested in acquiring the qualification as a specialist lawyer (“Fachanwalt”) you will certainly receive our support and we will plan the necessary steps with you.

Work-Life-Balance

Our clients often request a high input of skill, energy and time. This is in particular true in the transactional business.

He or she who works a lot shall have enough time off work. We afford ourselves 30 days of vacation. We expect that you do take your days off. And we expect you not to work over the weekends. Only a well balanced advisor is able to give the best advice. Life is enjoyable in the office and outside, right!?

Legal Interns/Summer Students as Academic Assistants

Legal Interns/Summer Students as Academic Assistants

Legal Interns/Summer Students

You have passed your exam with distinction. You have good knowledge of the English (and German) language, ideally acquired in country.

You are interested in an internationally active law firm for your internship? But you are not interested in being one in hundreds of others?

You want to be in a law firm where the responsible attorneys will have time for you and where you, from the first day on, can contribute to challenging cases with all of your knowledge and creativity?

We at SCHIEDERMAIR Rechtsanwälte have, after many years of practice in large German and international law firms, decided to rediscover our professional roots. We want to advise our clients personally and individually or in small teams. We have built long-standing relationships with many of our clients (the German “Mittelstand” as well as international groups of companies). Over the years trust has grown combined with deep knowledge of our clients’ competitive uniqueness, their business and their corporate culture. This relationship of trust and knowledge forms the basis of our mutual success.

We discuss with you the results of your work and we explore with you possible improvements. You will participate in meetings with clients and you will be involved in the communication within the firm and in correspondence with the client. We will assure that you will have a chance to get acquainted to the work routine of a business lawyer. Needless to say, this cannot be done in a day. You should be ready to work at least two or three days a week during your internship or your summer studentship.

Should you already know your favoured area of business law (Corporate, Real Estate, Notarial Services or M&A and Transactions/Labour and Employment Law/Industrial Property and IT/Taxes/Litigation and Arbitration) we will acknowledge your interest and train you with emphasis on your preferred field(s) of interest.

Should you rather like to get a better overall understanding of what a business lawyer does, more than twenty colleagues (male and female) are ready to introduce you to their area of practice. But no worries: one of our attorneys will be your main contact and mentor. He or she will assure that you can learn all you want to learn during your internship and that the workload on your desk will be reasonable.

Should you, apart from that, like to take a certain professional distance to have a better view on things, you will like our office in the Nordend, the northern part of downtown Frankfurt, with a fantastic view on the Frankfurt skyline.

Research Assistant

In case you have not yet completed your first exam or you are looking for a job as a research assistant to help finance your doctorate (PhD) studies, we are looking forward to your application.

It will be part of your job to do research, to write memoranda and to help us with other supplementary tasks which we expect you to handle independently and in a self-reliant manner. Your work will be tailored to your availability and preferences.

Secretarial Services

Secretarial Services

Administration and Staff

Admittedly, if you want to work for a lawyer you sometimes have to be thick-skinned. But we are no brutes. See for yourself!

We are looking forward to welcoming you should you have completed your training as a paralegal or notarial assistant ("Rechtsanwalts-, Notarfachangestellter, Rechtsfachwirt", all male/female) or have completed your foreign language assistant education. You will be working in a small team and you will have the opportunity to take over other tasks, apart from the typical secretarial functions, meeting your personal interests and capabilities.
